Joseph Allen grew up as a missionary in Brazil where he learned to play guitar. Currently, he is a a farmer, pastor, and a traveling musician making the top 10 charts for albums and worship songs on iTunes living in Rusk Texas.
JP Allen
John Paul is from deep East Texas, to the mountains of Brazil. This Homeschooled, Third-World City, Country Boy, has seen just a little bit of the world. He is a full time traveling musician, top of the iTunes Charts, Speaker, and Evangelists.
Brock Garrison
Brock Garrison is an artist, songwriter, and church worship leader based out of Nashville, Tennessee. He grew up in Paris, Texas and has love and a calling to share the Gospel through song.

Amazing Grace (Folk/Country)
I learned to play fingerstyle in Brazil with the Spanish and folk players. This definitely creates a fun unique style when it comes to our playing. Here is a Folk/Country version of how we play Amazing Grace in Brazil. My Brother and I are playing a duet with guitar, piano, kick drum, shaker, tambourine/snare drum, and a hit-hat. Tracks are cool but where’s the fun in that 😉
Percussive Fingerstyle Guitar
I have had the privilege to learn from many vast genres from various instructors from around the world. Here I teach people to not just play the guitar but to shine as a player. I teach them to be themselves and to not just sound like someone else. So no matter what genre you want to play, we have a great teaching method to prepare you for the specific genre you enjoy to play or have a career in. God made every person to strike the strings in a unique different way. It is really like a person’s fingerprints. No one strikes the strings the same way. God made each player unique.
Here is a little exercise I learned from my guitar instructor.
Amazing Grace (natural harmonics)
My favorite and forte is fingerstyle guitar. This can help to open so many doors and different genres of playing. Here are several videos of me playing along with some of our music we released. There are videos from a full band, to acoustic, to just me playing in my living room. Playing with bands and recording in studios is fun but it must not be used as a crutch to hide a lot of our mistakes. If a guitarist sounds good raw and unplugged, everything else will just be icing on the cake.
What Child Is This (Spanish)
This is an original piece with a classical Spanish Twist. I grew up in Brazil playing Spanish music and it is still one of my most favorite types of music. You will always hear a little Spanish flare in all of our music.

It was an absolute blessing this D-now season. We were honored to go where God called us to serve. Loved getting to see old friends and meet new friends too. Thank you to every Church that had us out. Everyone was so kind and we hope you were challenged and encouraged to seek God all the more. Discipleship is key to any believer’s walk. Do we let God have every area of our lives? The only true way to be His disciple is to die to every part of our flesh and sinful desires. We must set an example in the same way Jesus set an example for all to live by. Remember, worship is a life style.

I want to help everybody as best as I know how. You will find that many music professors are gate keepers. They will only teach you so much to make you good enough but not too much that they have to compete with you. I teach you everything I know. I take pride in my students learning. My main goal is to make them better players and Godlier men than myself.

Here are several of my students playing guitar with no experience and in 6 months performing in front of people completely by memory at a college precourse level. They are just 9, 11, and 12 years old. They are reading music and everything. You may not want to do all that and that’s perfectly o.k. However, my point is the possibilities are endless. Whether you want to be a pro or just play as a hobby.
Here are several of my students playing guitar, other various instruments, singing, and running media for Sunday morning worship. Practically every single one came without any experience in music. Now, they are beginning to lead in worship for their church.
Here is Bonnie who didn’t play fingerstyle guitar, but here she is JUST two weeks from learning with me. She is so TALENTED!
Here is one of my students, who is just 15 years old, who came to me wanting to sing and play at the same time. It can be a little hard to multitask. He saw me play multiple instruments at once and came to me and asked, “can you teach me to do that just with my guitar and voice.” Well, fast forward and here he is with a full band playing for Sunday morning and now getting asked to play and sing songs in various places.
Here are several students I have taught in the past. Since then, they continue to serve in churches and have formed their own band called “Righteous Noise”. This is why I love music. Teaching people to love music, worship and honor Jesus! Does NOT get better than that!
I also go on mission trips and teach guitarist around the world. This is one session from teaching at an orphanage where we taught around 40 kids about worship. Since then many of these kids have served in leading worship at their church. Now, I get to go overseas and see people impact others in the name of Jesus through worship around the world.
This is at my Church where there were like no youth and definitely no one playing. Now, our Church has young men and women playing in worship with the adults. However, they are not just playing but singing, running media, cameras, broadcast, live stream, and sound in the Church. Now, the older youth are passing on and teaching what they know to the younger kids.

Silent Night – Bonnie Silva
Meet one of my students Bonnie Silva. She is an AMAZING guitarist and musician. She did an arrangement of Silent Night and I loved it so much I have included it in my academy. So if you have an arrangement send it in and I just might put it in the course and do a co-write with you just like I did with her! My students don’t just play but create and arrange their very own style of playing. Bonnie who came here to learn some more guitar is now helping others around the world to play.
Psalm 54 – Rhett Sachtleben
Meet one of my students, Rhett Sachtleben. He is an AMAZING guitarist, musician, brother in Christ, and friend. He did an original song off of Psalm 54. While some finishing touches are being made on the rest of the song, Rhett was so kind to make this available to the rest of you guys in the JAM Nation community. This is an exercise that can really help you warm up your fingers and teach you to fingerpick. If done the right way, it is played a little raspy. I love this song to pieces and can’t wait for the rest of it! One of the coolest songs I truthfully ever heard. I am pumped about it! I loved it so much I had to include it in my academy. Rhett is so gifted and sooooo original in his playing and writing. So if you have an arrangement, send it in and I just might put it in the course and do a co-write with you just like I did with him!
