Don’t sit right in a mix with your band?
What’s up guys, Joseph Allen here to give you another tip. Have you ever wondered why your mix is not sitting right when you are doing your sound? It might be too bright or too dark. You have mixed it, you did the EQ, and You have set your tone. However, something is still throwing you off. You just cannot quite tweak.
Common Overlooked Problem
This is a problem that is extremely overlooked as guitar players. The problem can be your cables. Depending on the cables you use there can be problems or factors. This can be patch cables going into your rigs or the cable going into your guitar. It does not matter.
Two Main Types of Cables
If you are using a non cabled coil, it will typically be brighter sounding. A non coiled cable is just a regular guitar cable or also called a quarter inch. If it is a coiled cable, it will typically be darker sounding. A coiled cable is the one that makes tons of circular motions all through the cable. It helps the cable not to get tangled.
Once you figure out what cable you have, you need to research how that specific type of cable is effecting your sound. Even different brands of cables can alter the sound just a little bit. This is why you will have people recommend one brand of cable through your entire rig. This allows the change in sound to be consistent. You do not have to do this but it can help speed up the process.
Think Simple
A lot of times we overlook something small like cables and that is where the problem is coming from.
Do not overlook your cables because your cables are also shaping your sound. Most often the problem is really simple rather than complicated.
