Do We Let The Light In Our Lives?
This is a little video I sent one of my brothers to encourage him while he was in Japan. I enjoyed it so much that I thought you all would as well. It applies to us all. Ephesians 5:11-13 says,
“And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.”
As farmers, we have to have grass for our animals. Whether it is a pasture or a tree forest, there has to be grass so animals can live. Without grass, animals die and if the animals die, farmers do not eat. Grass is a huge part of life for farmers. In order for grass to grow, it must have one key element. It must have light. We are all lost in darkness without Jesus Christ as our Savior. We must seek Him, ask forgiveness for our sins and repent. We must let the light in our lives. God is the only One who can turn our darkness into light. Psalm 119:105 says,
“Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.”
Psalm 119:130 says,
“The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.”
It works the same way in our lives as it does to grow green pastures. We have to let the light in our lives. If we let the light come in, it kills all the sin, weeds and bad things in our lives. We can only know the light by the light of God. God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit is and are the light. 1 John 1:5 says,
“This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.”
We must let them/Him in our lives if the darkness is to die. Light must break through. Psalm 37:5-6 says,
“Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday.”
This presents a question? How do we apply this to our lives? How does light get through to the deepest part of our hearts? Well, one must first understand that it is by no strength in man. It is not of works least he could boast. No man has the ability or the power to do this. Ephesians 2:8-10 says,
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
Psalm 18:28 says,
“For You will light my lamp;
The Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.”
Getting the Light to shine in our lives takes work. We must constantly be dying to our flesh and getting rid of the sin in our lives. This can only be done by the blood of Jesus Christ. As a farmer, you have to clear trees, thorns, briers, weeds and more to allow the light to penetrate the darkness. All of the bad things must die in order for grass to grow. If the sun does not enter in and there is only darkness, the grass will never grow. Matthew 6:23 says,
“But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!”
We must get rid of the sin in our lives by letting the light of Christ shine inside and out 24/7. Matthew 5:48 says,
“Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.”
Jesus commands us in Matthew 16:24-26 to die to ourselves, take up our cross and follow Him.
“Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?”
There is no other way to find the light. Jesus is the only way and one can only know the light by the power of God.
John 14:6 says,
“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Acts 4:12 says,
“And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Psalm 36:8-9 says,
“They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house, And You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures. For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light.“
Only through the power of Jesus, will our darkness, our woods and fields full of briers, weeds and thorns, turn into green pastures and we shall enter into the heavenly pastures, our land of rest, our Promised Land. If we do not do God’s will, if we do not do the things of God and get rid of the sin in our lives, nothing good grows and we will not enter that Heavenly Rest. In farming, the grass only grows where the light shines. If we do not let the light of Christ shine in certain parts of our lives, the grass will not grow and God calls us to let the light shine in every part of our lives especially where no one but God can see. 2 Peter 1:4 says,
“By which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.“
Hebrews 4 says,
“Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. 2 For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. 3 For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said:
“So I swore in My wrath,
‘They shall not enter My rest,’ ”
although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4 For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”; 5 and again in this place: “They shall not enter My rest.”
6 Since therefore it remains that some must enter it, and those to whom it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience, 7 again He designates a certain day, saying in David, “Today,” after such a long time, as it has been said:
“Today, if you will hear His voice,
Do not harden your hearts.”
8 For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day. 9 There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. 10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.
11 Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience. 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
Revelation 3:21 says,
“To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.”
Remember this. One can only know the light by the power of God. Psalm 36 says,
“An oracle within my heart concerning the transgression of the wicked:
There is no fear of God before his eyes.
2 For he flatters himself in his own eyes,
When he finds out his iniquity and when he hates.
3 The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit;
He has ceased to be wise and to do good.
4 He devises wickedness on his bed;
He sets himself in a way that is not good;
He does not abhor evil.
5 Your mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens;
Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
6 Your righteousness is like the great mountains;
Your judgments are a great deep;
O Lord, You preserve man and beast.
7 How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God!
Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.
8 They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house,
And You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures.
9 For with You is the fountain of life;
In Your light we see light.
10 Oh, continue Your lovingkindness to those who know You,
And Your righteousness to the upright in heart.
11 Let not the foot of pride come against me,
And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.
12 There the workers of iniquity have fallen;
They have been cast down and are not able to rise.“
